SWCD Available Grants

The Clean Water Indiana (CWI) Program was established to provide financial assistance to landowners through grants awarded to local SWCD’s in order to implement conservation practices that reduce non-point source water pollution.

Who can benefit from this program?

Farmers in Elkhart County can benefit from up to 75% cost-share to implement conservation practices on their land in two categories: livestock practices and cropping practices.

What conservation practices can you implement?

For livestock:

  • Exclusion fencing
  • Heavy Use Area Protection
  • Hay and Pasture Renovation
  • Prescribed (Rotational) Grazing

For cropping:

  • Filter strips
  • Cover crops
