2010 Poster Contest Poster contest categories are grades K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Entire classes may participate as a classroom project or individual students may enter by submitting their poster to the SWCD by the 4:30 P.M., May 6, 2010 deadline. We will award ribbons to the top three posters entered by any classroom. (Teachers: if you teach multiple classes be sure to indicate how many classes are represented, and which students are in each class.) All posters become the property of the Elkhart County SWCD. Grand prizes of $25 gift cards will be awarded in each of the five grade categories, and these posters will be entered into the state poster contest. Second places will receive $15 gift cards, and third place in each category will receive $10 gift cards. One poster will be selected for the cover artwork of the 2010 SWCD annual report, which will be printed in January of 2011. To learn more about the theme of the contest, click here:

Indiana Master Naturalist Program We will be hosting another class in the fall of 2010. It will be held between Labor Day and Thanksgiving on Thursday evenings from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at various locations throughout the county. After participants complete their classes and test, they will be required to complete 27 hours of volunteer service with a local natural resource agency or organization. Graduates have completed a wide variety of tasks to earn their volunteer hours. To learn more about the state program, click here:
